Hello all!
All during this year's burn I ran around the playa reading people their cards from the Inner Mask Oracle. It was awesome- but the best was on the last night, after the temple burned, and I bicycled across the desert encountering people, and giving them a card to keep, gradually demolishing the deck, as the temple had just been.
If you were one of those people, well hello! You found your way to this site :) I oughta give you something for having found your way here. I have a newsletter, more or less (I am super rare on the newsletter send) http://tinyletter.com/KatCrow and I can tell you some other news:
• Draft #7 of the meanings book is underway. I got tons of feedback from interacting with the deck so much that week, and there's a hefty amount of text accompanying every card which I feel is relevant and I really want the written element to be as good as I can get it
• I'll be demo'ing the deck at Fan Girls Night in Troy in upstate New York October 25, and I also will hopefully have some "demo decks" available at my art show in Troy starting October 26 at Weathered Wood also in Troy. All this is subject to change if I don't get the 7th edit done in time :P I have things I want to change about the actual cards for the next little batch of printings I make.
• I won't probably have the Inner Mask with me but I'll be at Wizard World Austin next week September 19-23
• I have my sights set on "real published" for this deck but I'm researching the Kickstarter path in case that doesn't work out or it doesn't fit or if I just feel Kickstarter is the more appropriate approach for this project.
• Oh yeah- some people asked if its possible to buy this deck yet. And yeah actually it is-- I uploaded the current version to Gamecrafter and I think it costs like $20 or something, of which I get $4 or something. I haven't been pushing too hard on this one since I consider this a rough draft still, it doesn't include a box or book or anything (I didn't want to jack up the price any, plus it would take time for me to design those :) ) I may need to pull this deck offline if things get serious with a publisher, but for now if you're itching for the same deck I use have at it :) If you wait till Halloween 2018 I'll have an updated version with more words on the cards- which I think might be useful.
• Card meanings can be found right here on this website! Or at least, the 5th draft are. I gotta finish the current draft and then update the meanings here. One step atta time. But in any case you can still check them out, they're mostly right :)
I still haven't resumed posting on instagram since the burn, sculptures are currently set aside so I can finish some freelance gigs that sprang up suddenly. Lots of things have been springing up recently so my fingers are still crossed about getting this deck updated by Halloween.
Did you miss me at Burning Man? Still want a reading? This can totally happen! Send me a message through this website so it's sure to get to my inbox, and ask for a reading.
There's also something available for a limited time-- I still have some cards left that I didn't give away after the temple burn. Like 10 left or so. Even if you didn't go to Burning Man I can offer you a card. If you contact me through this site and ask for a card, and let me know your mailing address, I can mail you one, with the card meaning. First come first serve on this one :)
I feel like the best thing you can take away from Burning Man is the feeling that you know what you must do. At least that's my current thoughts on it. Lots of people get depressed to go home after Burning Man, to their comparatively boring or dry or unenjoyable lives. There's some others totally fed up with Burning Man by the end and anxious to get home. I think the optimal way to leave the burn is to leave with new-found direction, or focus, or ideas. That's my thinking anyway. So that's what I hoped to leave people with, by sending them home with a card. If you are feeling desolate in your life right now, with or without having been on the magical ride of Burning Man, you can have a card. After I run out, I will think of something else to send, you can reach out to me anyway :) One thing I think Burning Man could use more of is a better after-care strategy (I never like decompression parties- they're just so far from the real thing) and if I can be of help then, awesome :) No one should be in this alone.
